August 11, 2015 Upcoming Calendar of Events October 2015 Preservation Society of Charleston The Fall Tours of Homes and Gardens is the Society’s foremost annual fundraiser. This years dates run October 1st- 25th. This four week event is possible only as a result of the generosity of owners of historic properties, loyal Society members, and dedicated volunteers. We hope you will join us as we share the unique heritage of this National Historic Landmark city with you. February 2016 The South Eastern Wildlife Exposition This year's dates for the Exposition are February 12th, 13th and 14th. The Southeastern Wildlife Exposition (SEWE) has grown to be the largest event of its kind in the nation, attracting over 500 artists and exhibitors who present their offerings to over 40,000 attendees. A 3-day celebration of nature that has earned a reputation for excellence, SEWE now hosts the world's foremost experts in wildlife and nature art, as well as conservation research and environmental education. March & April 2016 Charleston Food & Wine Festival The annual Food and Wine festival is March 2nd-6th, has been praised as one of the top five food and wine festivals in the U.S. by Forbes Traveler. The four-day event infuses home-grown flavor with the most celebrated chefs, culinary professionals and winemakers in the world. Charleston Fasion Week Held March 15th-19th, Baker Motor Company Charleston Fashion Week® showcases emerging designer and model talent across the East Coast. Since its founding in 2007 Charleston Fasion Week has become one of the premier fasion weeks in North America. The Charleston International Antiques Show Will be held again this year March 18th-20th with the Preview Party March 17th. Featuring more than 30 of the nation's most prominent antiques dealers, the show includes a wide range of period furnishings and decorative arts, vintage jewelry, porcelains, ceramics, silver and architectural garden accents from the late 17th to the early 20th century. Through the show's educational and entertaining special events, collectors have a unique opportunity to purchase and learn more about everything from exquisite furniture and fine art to rare maps, prints and quilts. The Historic Charleston Foundation is celebrating it 69th annual Spring House & Garden Festival. This years dates are March 16th to April 24th. Daily tours feature the interiors and gardens of Charleston's historic private houses dating to the 18th century during the peak of the city's blooming season. Cooper River Bridge Run This years race will be April 2nd. The Cooper River Bridge Run is the best organized and the best conducted 10-K race in the world. It includes world-class competition in a unique setting with unparalleled participant satisfaction. It broadens community cooperation and participation in healthy events throughout the year. The Cooper River Bridge Run serves as a model of health motivation for other communities throughout the world. May & June 2016 Spoleto Festival USA This years Arts Festival runs May 27th - June 12th. Founded in 1977 The Spoleto festival celebrates all of the arts. Music, Opera, Theater, Dance and the Visual arts. Visitors from here and abroad. Going on at the same time is Piccolo Spoleto. Piccolo primarily focuses on artists of the Southeast region and is the perfect complement to the international scope of its parent festival and its 700 events in 17 days. The evernt transforms Charleston into an exhilarating celebration of performing, literary and visual arts. Piccolo Spoleto's traditional program offerings include visual arts exhibits, classical music, jazz, dance, theatre, poetry readings, children's activities, choral music, ethnic cultural presentations, crafts, and film.
